Jump-Starting Your Car With Ease! (HULKMAN Alpha100 Jump Starter)

Sometimes life just happens, and when it does, this is the kind of product you want by your side. Check out my latest Amazon find!

Hey, this is Dean with WiseBuysGuys! Today, we're going to talk about the HULKMAN Alpha100 Jump Starter. There's a lot of testosterone in that tough-sounding name!

At any rate, the first thing you'll notice about this product is that it's a little bulky, but they do have a few other models, such as the Alpha65, Alpha85, and of course, the Alpha100, which I have.

So, what do you use the HULKMAN for? It's used to jump-start cars, and I was fortunate after I bought it because I ended up needing to use it twice. The first time was to jump my son's car, and the second was to jump my neighbor's car, which had sat in the garage for about a year.

At this point, you may wonder if you really need one. And the answer is - yes! Why not? It's much nicer than jumper cables, especially if you're jumping a car that's stuck in a garage. Rather than getting help pushing the car out, all you have to do is attach the HULKMAN and read the directions to make sure you're using it right.

I found that both times I used it, the product worked well, and there are several things I like about it.

First, the HULKMAN Alpha100 features a rapid charge mode, so it charges really fast. But the other thing I noticed is that it holds a charge. I store mine in the trunk area of my Jeep, where it's pretty hot, so I check it every few months just to ensure the battery stays charged for when I need it. And out of all the times I've checked, it's never been lower than about 80 percent battery life remaining, so that works well.

Additionally, it has a few different lights you can use, which are nice, but it also has several charging ports, including a USB-C and two USB 3.0s. These charging ports are where I start to get a little iffy about things. This bugs me because you can use it to charge devices, but the one time I tried to use the feature for my phone, I could sit there and watch the battery percentage go down. Now, I wouldn't have a problem if my phone was going up at the same rate, but that was not the case. Considering how large the battery is, it should not equate to a one-to-one ratio when charging a device. Either way, this defeats the purpose of the battery. After all, I still need it charged enough to use if I need to jump a vehicle at any point.

The other thing that caused the HULKMAN Alpha100 to take a hit from me was that though the box it comes with is great, there's no case. So, this means you have to bring the bulky box around with you, and it's actually twice the size it needs to be, even though it makes for a nice presentation when you open it for the first time. However, it's a rather expensive product, so for it not to come with a case that's pretty bothersome. Of course, you can buy a case for it, but that's another $30 or $40, and I'm not doing that because it's an expensive item and should come with one.

I would like to take a moment to give kudos to the company because the first one I bought didn't work. But I emailed them, and a real person responded almost immediately. They asked me a few questions as they were already packing me a new item, which I thought was fantastic. Come to find out, the reason it may not have worked could've been user error due to the teeth on the clamps not being as sharp as regular ones. To prevent this from happening again, I always make sure to scrape the clamp on the post to get below any grease or dirt that may be there.

At the end of the day, I give the HULKMAN Alpha100 Jump Starter 4-stars. The product works well when used to jump-start cars, and it holds a battery charge well. It lost a full star because I could not use it to charge devices without it draining the battery. Still, regardless of which level you choose, I do suggest buying one to carry in your car.
