Video Conference, Stream, Podcast & Be Heard (Rode NT-USB Mini Condenser Microphone Review)

Updated: Sep 16, 2022

Hey there everybody; it's Josh from WiseBuysGuys. I do fancy myself a little bit of a blogger and a vlogger, and I do a lot of business on Google Meet. And the microphone is so essential. I can't stand when you call somebody, and you can't understand what they're saying, or it's cutting in and out because Bluetooth isn't working. I like hardwiring in, and this microphone has changed the game.

This mic is great for streamers, podcasters, professionals, and anyone who needs crystal clear audio quality. Using the microphone, you'll have real-time access to your audio without worrying about disrupting echos or delays. And the best part is that the NT-USB Mini delivers it to any tablet or computer.

Furthermore, the plug-and-play feature of this condenser microphone makes it an excellent option for those just getting started podcasting or vlogging. You simply mount it to a boom arm or the base it comes with, and you're ready to go.

I've found that the microphone does just about everything it claims to do. In fact, I've been using it steadily since plugging it in and haven't switched mics yet. Though there are microphones on the market that cost between $500 and $600 more than this one and are supposed to be a little better, I don't think you can beat the Rode NT-USB for the value. And the only reason the Rode NT-USB Mini doesn't get five stars in my book is that for the best audio quality, you have to be close to it.

That said, let's take a look at the pros and cons I've found with this microphone:

Pros

  • Great Sound

  • Easy to Use

  • Best Value for the Money

Cons

  • Records better with boom arm than the magnetic base

Here is some positive and negative feedback that I found online:

  • "It sounds great. Especially when I get close to the mic. Røde microphones are very high tech and high quality. It's easy. Plug it in. It works."

  • "This is an excellent mic for the price - well made, clear, crisp sound, easy to plug in and get started immediately. Time will tell how it holds up, but so far, so excellent. Sounds best at maybe 6-10" away, but even further placed it's still pleasing."

  • "My best investment so far! I use this for a professional audio recording of songs. Works brilliantly in mac / pc / phones/ iPad .. all !”

  • "Bought this as a replacement for the old turtle beach microphone, but somewhat disappointed. Works great, sounds great on my PC, but gets horrible static and feedback every few minutes on PS4."

  • "Great product but not always working well with apps like zoom. "

As you can see, most reviewers would agree that the mic works best when you're close, and aside from a few other software-related issues, most buyers agree that it's worth the $99.

Ultimately, if you're looking for an affordable, high-quality condenser microphone that's plug and play, then the Rode NT-USB Mini fits the bill. Overall, I'd give it 4.8 stars, and that's just because it works best when mounted close to your face.

So, there you have it! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about this product!
